Fully Funding Public Education

In Bucks County and throughout the Commonwealth,  there are immense differences in the quality of education children receive based on where they live. I firmly believe that no child’s future should be determined by their zip code, which is why I want to fully fund public schools at the state level.

In 2023, the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court ruled our school funding system unconstitutional. The demands set forth by the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court still have not been met and, as a direct result of the State refusing to step in and pay their fair share, rising property taxes are breaking the bank.

Funds for public schools are also being diverted away into unaccountable charter schools, allowing billionaire charter school owners to pocket our tax dollars for profit. This vicious cycle diverts more and more funds from public education, causing property taxes to be raised at the same time as our schools are cutting their budgets.

Many students thrive in alternative schools, because some can offer opportunities and individualized support that not all public schools can. This is why we must ensure we fully fund public education first so all students have access to extracurricular programs, sports, art and music, mental health resources and career counseling, and technical training programs.

Every child is different and every family has a different set of needs. We should build public schools that can support every child and prepare them for the workforce.

In short

I believe we must

Fully fund all public schools.
Ensure public education funds are not diverted to charter and alternative schools who don’t meet the highest standards of quality and student outcomes.
Expand resources for student support and mental health programs/IEPS, technical school opportunities, and extracurriculars.
