ISSUES

Affordability

I spent my career working with families living paycheck to paycheck to achieve economic stability. Hard-working families who play by the rules are struggling with how expensive housing, groceries, healthcare, and energy prices have become. As a result of bad policy, stagnant wages and the rising cost of living, more and more families are being squeezed out of the middle class. At the state level there is so much more we can do to lower the cost of living and reduce your utility bills, healthcare, and childcare costs.

Healthcare- Our hospitals are overburdened and private equity is swooping in to buy up our struggling hospital systems, raising costs for patients and selling off bits and pieces of health systems for a quick buck. This both raises costs and reduces access for many patients and we must fight to keep private equity out of healthcare.

Childcare- Having well funded and safe childcare allows parents to stay in the workforce and sets children up for social and academic success. We must expand access to low or no cost childcare options for working families.

Reduce utility costs - I've helped thousands of low income families weatherize homes, making them safer, healthier, and more energy efficient. I've seen firsthand how high utility costs force families to choose between heating their homes and putting food on the table. While we can make improvements to the grid, we also have to rein in the corporate greed that has huge corporations posting record profits as your bills spiral out of control. As a state legislator, I'll champion Pennsylvania's energy future by expanding our energy supply, modernizing our infrastructure, and ensuring every family has access to reliable, affordable energy. And we must codify the Governor’s GRID plan to ensure we hold data centers accountable for providing their own energy, so ratepayers aren’t getting stuck with higher energy prices.
